'Minding Mama & Other Short Stories' Available Now!
Neon Sky Books is pleased to announce the forthcoming publication of their second short story collection by EJ Jackson - 'Minding Mama & Other Short Stories'.
The original short story on which the comic book series 'Minding Mama' is based accompanies 'Closed Until Further Notice', 'Housebound', 'The Accountant' and 'The Long Drive'. In EJ Jackson's usual style, each story has a science-fiction or paranormal twist:
CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE – Second-hand furniture shop owner Sheila takes delivery of an old kitchen unit. It needs a good clean before she can put it on sale, and Sheila looks forward to seeing it restored to something near its former glory. But this piece of kitchen furniture has a secret…
HOUSEBOUND – Alice hasn’t been outside in a long time. With her husband working away, and her HouseBot driving her to new heights of despair, Alice makes a bid for freedom…
THE ACCOUNTANT - Harold Plum is a very diligent accountant and finds unemployment not at all to his liking. So when he lands a new position, he is determined to get to the bottom of some rather curious anomalies…
MINDING MAMA – Several hundred years into Earth’s future, humanity has fled underground after decades of intense solar flare activity has severely damaged the ozone layer, allowing UV radiation through. But Cyril and his fellow FarmBot Celia are wearing out…
THE LONG DRIVE – In the summer of 2019, an ambulance crew on a Category One calls see a car veer off the road and down a steep embankment. When local police investigate, they find no signs of a recent accident. What they do find is much more disturbing…

Minding Mama - update!
January 2018
It's been a while since I last updated the site, but the Minding Mama team has not been idle - far from it!
On 28th October 2017, the Kings International College Drama Studio in Camberley, Surrey saw the realization of months of hard work by Team Minding Mama - we finally shot the trailer for the second stage of our crowdfunding campaign! Thanks to all the lovely people who donated on our Patreon and GoFundMe pages, we were able to employ actor Kate Davies-Speak to play Mama, and TV/Theatre veteran David Learner as the voice of Cyril, our FarmBot. Horror and sci-fi fans may know Kate from her roles in 'Escape from Cannibal Farm' and the web series 'Horizon'. Her latest movie, 'The Barge People' is due for release this year. David Learner will be familiar to many of you as the physical form of Marvin, the Paranoid Android in several stage adaptations and the 1980 TV series of 'The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy'.

We've been quietly working away over the last few months, and our Stage One crowdfund page has just gone live on GoFundMe!
The purpose of the campaign is to raise funds to pay for our main crowdfund campaign trailer (which will fund the creation and production of the first issue of the 'Minding Mama' graphic novel series).
The concept art and three pages are now ready for the campaign, Matthew Thomason will be composing our theme, and we have just signed Kate Speak-Davies to play Mama! We'll have another announcement to make very soon and I can't wait to tell you who will be the voice of Cyril, our favourite FarmBot - that's him on the left.
We have until the middle of October to raise the funds, so please spread the word!
Thank you,
Team Minding Mama - Elaine, Dan, Amanda and Sue

It's getting closer!
We haven't been idle since December.... the first three pages of 'Minding Mama' are now illustrated and coloured, and I can't wait for you all to see them!
I've been busy sourcing some great rewards for the lovely people who will help fund our first issue. As you might expect from a graphic novel/comic book, they are mainly artistic in theme - canvas prints, posters, framed panels... if there's anything in particular you'd like to see, please use the contact form to tell us, and we'll look into it.
The next step towards creating our crowdfunding campaign is to create a short trailer, which will be displayed on the campaign page. We have two superb actors lined up for the roles of Mama (visual) and Cyril (audio) - all that's needed now is to find a suitable location for a day's filming and organise wardrobe.
And this is where you can get involved, for free! We're looking for a location in the UK that has at least one interior space which could be easily made to look post-apocalyptic in a deserted, run-down kind of way, without too much effort (for effort, read expense). We're not looking for anything that could pass for post-armed conflict (nuclear or otherwise), rather somewhere that has just been abandoned and is somewhat sand-blown (there's a good reason for that). Preferably not too open to the elements, either, because rain doesn't feature our scenario at all. I know...
So if you know of somewhere near you that might fit the bill, please drop us a line via our contact form, or leave a note in the guest book. If we end up using your suggestion, we'll arrange an extra-special 'thank you' just for you!
Thanks for reading!
